How To Successfully Go From Smoking to Vaping

‘Vaping’ describes the use of an electronic cigarette, often referred to as an e-cigarette, as a method of consumimg nicotine with significantly less harmful additives than regular tobacco smoking.

E-cigarettes use a battery and a coil to heat a substance known as e-liquid, producing a vapour (much like water in a kettle) which is then inhaled. Unlike traditional cigarettes, the act of vaping does not produce harmful smoke which is damaging to the lungs and general health.

In August 2015, Public Health England (the Government body) championed vaping as 95% less harmful to health than tobacco. This statistic partially reflects the growing popularity of e-cigarette use, with 3 million UK people currently vaping.

We understand that going from cigarettes to an alternative like vaping can be a daunting prospect. That’s why we’ve put together three simple steps to get you started in the right direction:

1. Pick an e-liquid flavour
We have a huge selection of e-liquids in a variety of delicious flavour profiles – from tobaccos to fruits, menthols to desserts and everything in between, to offer a new and enjoyable experience.

2. Choose a Strength
The level of nicotine strength you require is generally based on your cigarette consumption and can be gradually reduced as your cravings decrease. As a rough guide, a 5-10 a-day smoker would require a 6mg nicotine e-liquid, a 10-15 a-day would require 12mg, and a 20+ cigarettes per day 18mg.

3. Select your vape kit
Although there are many different e-cigarette options out there, we think the best place to start is with a ‘classic’ style kit. These kits tend to come with all the components you need to get up and running and require very little assembly or prior knowledge of vaping. Classic kits tend to have a ‘pen’ style appearance and use a tank known as a clearomiser to hold the e-liquid before it is vaporised. They replicate the draw of a traditional cigarette that you would be used to, with the added flavour of an e-liquid. Sub-ohm kits work on a higher wattage with a lower throat hit for a direct to lung inhale, and work to deliver a more intense flavour of clouds. Pod kits are also available - either a closed system that has disposable one-time-use cartridges with specific flavours, or refillable pod system that allows you to use your own liquid in your favourite flavour and strength.
